Listed below are TAPPI TIPs that were recently submitted to the Working Group for review. The date when the Work Item was opened is shown for each TIP, as well as the Subject Category under which the TIP is assigned and the Working Group Chair's (WGC) name. TAPPI TIP 0404-18: Measurement of dryer condensing rates (vertical separator method) Scope: This Technical Information Paper outlines a method for measuring the average rate of steam condensation of the drying cylinders that discharge into a separator tank. To perform this task at the tank (preferred method), it must be equipped with shut-off valves and a sight glass or magnetic level indicator for observing the level of condensate in the tank. An alternative method is to use the level indication present on DCS screen assuming the separator tank is equipped with a level transmitter.

Volunteers for the following working groups of Technical Information Papers (TIPs) are needed. Corrugated Packaging All Working Groups of TIPs require a minimum of 3 TAPPI members from 3 different companies in order to review a TIP. The following TIPs do not have an assigned Working Group Chair (WGC) to initiate the review: Corrugated Packaging If you would like to join a Working Group of a TIP, please write to tip@tappi.org for more information. The Standard-Specific Interest Groups (SSIGs) for the following Standards are in need of additional members. These groups may or may not have ballots currently open. All Standard-Specific Interest Groups (SSIG) require a minimum of 10 members in order to ballot and vote on a draft of a method. The following test methods do not have the required minimum number of members to initiate a ballot: T 425 om-21 Opacity of paper (15/d geometry, illuminant A/2 degrees, 89% reflectance backing and paper backing)
T 515 om-20 Visual grading and color matching of paper
