CMPC Orders New Valmet Tissue Production Line for Mill in Mexico

CMPC Tissue S.A., Santiago, Chile, has ordered from Valmet, Finland, a complete new tissue production line to be installed at the mill of its subsidiary Absormex CMPC Tissue S.A. de CV in Mexico. The new production line is scheduled to be started up in mid-2015, and will add 60,000 metric tpy of high quality toilet and towel grades to the company's production capacity. Valmet has previously delivered an Advantage DCT200 tissue line to CMPC Tissue's Talagante mill in Chile.
The value of the order was not disclosed. However, Valmet noted that this kind of production line is typically valued at EUR 20-40 million, depending on the scope of the delivery and the production output.
"The Latin American tissue market is growing both in respect to capacity and quality. Valmet has the tissue making technologies to meet current and future demands of the market," said Jan Erikson, VP of sales, Valmet. "We are very pleased that CMPC chose us as their supplier and selected Valmet's Advantage tissue technology to increase their current production in means of quality and capacity."
Valmet will deliver a complete Advantage DCT200 tissue production line with stock preparation equipment and tissue machine, including an OptiFlo II TIS headbox, a yankee cylinder, an Advantage AirCap hood, an Advantage WetDust dust management system, and an Advantage SoftReel reel. The scope will also include control systems, electrification, and mill engineering as well as installation. The production line will be optimized to enhance final product quality and reduce energy consumption. The raw material for the new line will be virgin and DIP pulp.
Absormex CMPC Tissue S.A. de CV is a wholly owned subsidiary of CMPC Tissue S.A., which is part of the larger pulp and paper group Empresas CMPC S.A. It is a leading tissue products supplier in Latin America with industrial operations in eight countries of that region.
