Polish producer Hanke Tissue has reportedly begun the process of starting up its new Recard (Italy) tissue machine in Kostrzyn. The startup will proceed in two steps, raising the mill’s tissue production capacity to 44,000 metric tpy.
With the startup, Hanke concludes its EUR 11 million investment project that was announced in 2012. As a result of the expansion, production capacity at the Kostrzyn mill on the German-Polish border initially increases from 14,000 metric tpy to 34,000 metric tpy. It will subsequently increase another 10,000 metric tpy in a second step, pushing the site's total capacity to the 44,000 metric tpy.
Hanke Tissue is using virgin fiber as raw material for the new machine. As part of the project, the company also built two new halls with a combined base area of 8,000 square meters for production and storage. The expansion creates 50 new jobs, raising the number of employees in Kostrzyn to 300.
