CMPC to Build New Tissue Plant in Peru

CMPC, Chile, will build a new tissue plant in Cañete, Peru, investing some $139 million in the project. According to a report by RISI, Brussels, Belgium, the first stage of the project includes the construction of a tissue paper converting line. The second stage involves installation of a 54,000 metric tpy tissue machine. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018.
Currently, CMPC owns a paper mill in Lima, Peru - named Protisa - which has an annual capacity of 82,000 metric tpy. CMPC started up a new 50,000 metric tpy tissue paper machine at Altamira, Mexico, on July 29, RISI reports. The Altamira project involved an investment of $96 million and raised the company’s capacity in Mexico to 134,000 metric tpy.
