Engineers are in short supply and high demand. That's why SCA in South Glens Falls, N.Y., USA, recently partnered with the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation to host a group of local students and provide an introduction to engineering.
The photo above is of students from Glens Falls, Queensbury, and Hudson Falls, N.Y., high schools outside of the South Glens Falls paper mill during the engineering introduction event.
The students were given an overview of engineering careers, an introduction to the University of Maine's course of study, a mill tour, and a question-and-answer session during lunch with some of the plant's engineers.
SCA aims to be an employer of choice. Its GO Program, a component of its Life-Inspiring Careers platform, positions SCA as an attractive employer with a rewarding and inspiring career path. The GO Program gives newly graduated students a chance to get their first job. GO stands for "graduate on boarding" and the positions are built as real jobs, designed to deliver both an exciting first career step, and to develop people to meet future business needs.
