Potosí Starts up New Tissue Machine in Mexico

Fábricas de Papel Potosí, Mexico, has brought on-stream a new A.Celli (Italy) 25,000 metric tpy tissue machine. The new machine is at the company’s mill in San Luis Potosí. It is 2,800 mm wide, operates at a speed of 1,500 m/min., has a 12-ft/ dia. steel yankee dryer, and can produce 80 metric tpd of high-quality tissue.
The Potosí mill operates two existing tissue machines that produce a combined 18,500 metric tpy of napkin and toilet paper. According to a RISI report, the company has idled its 8,500 metric tpy TM 2 and has plans to rebuild its 10,000 metric tpy TM 1.
Fábricas de Papel Potosí produces tissue from recycled fiber. Its converted products include toilet rolls, white table napkins, printed table napkins, stationery, and spunlace.
