Valmet Included in CDP's Climate A List

Valmet, Finland, also has been recognized for its actions and strategy to mitigate climate change and awarded a position on the 2016 Climate A List by CDP, the international not-for-profit organization that promotes sustainability.

This year's A list includes the 193 best companies globally that have publicly reported on their actions on climate change mitigation. Valmet was ranked among the top 9% of all the included companies. From the Nordic countries, a total of 14 companies were included in the list. The results were published on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, in the CDP Global Climate Change Report 2016

"Valmet has a comprehensive approach to sustainability. We contribute to climate change mitigation by developing technologies that enable the use of renewable raw materials and increase raw material efficiency. We also have a systematic program to reduce CO2 emissions in our own operations. Valmet's listing in both 2016 CDP's Climate A List and in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index indicates that our sustainability work is concentrating on the right issues," said Pasi Laine, president and CEO of Valmet.

Valmet's mission is to convert renewable resources into sustainable results. Valmet's Sustainability360º agenda focuses on five core areas: sustainable supply chain; health, safety, and environment; people and performance; sustainable solutions; and corporate citizenship. In the action plans for 2016-2018, special focus continues on ensuring a globally sustainable supply chain and continuous improvement of the safety culture.

"CDP congratulates the 193 A List companies that are leading the charge towards our low carbon future. Companies are key actors in enabling the global economy to achieve its new climate goals, and the leadership of this group points the way for others to take bold action and capitalize on the many opportunities that await," said Paul Simpson, CEO of CDP.

CDP, formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project, is an international not-for-profit organization that works on behalf of 827 institutional investors around the world. CDP runs a global disclosure system that enables companies, cities, states, and regions to measure and manage their environmental impacts.

The Climate A List, along with the climate scores of all companies publicly taking part in CDP's climate change program this year, is available on CDP's website.
