Sichuan Xilong Biomass Material, formerly known as Sichuan Xilong Paper, started up a new 15,000-tonne/yr tissue machine last month at its mill in Meishan city in China’s southwestern province of Sichuan.
Provided by Chinese supplier Baotuo Paper Machinery Engineering, the unit has a trim width of 2.86 m and a design speed of 1,000 m/min.
This is the first of six identical tissue machines that the company ordered for the site last May to have come on stream.
Trial runs on the second are scheduled for March. The remaining four are expected to start up by the end of this year. All these six tissue units will be fed with in-house bamboo pulp.
Owned by Sichuan Huanlong Group, the company launched its unbleached, bamboo-furnished tissue products, branded as BABO, in 2014. It is also reportedly mulling over more expansions in the tissue sector to take advantage of the ample bamboo supply in the southwestern part of China.
