The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has praised tissue paper producer Grand Bay Products for turning around its operations one year after it sought a US$5 million loan from Exim Bank to help save the jobs of 400 workers. As a result of the loan, the company was also able to consolidate its two operations into one and to restructure its debts.
Grand Bay’s sister company is the Trinidad Tissues Ltd.
During a tour of Grand Bay, at the Omeara Industrial Estate in Arima, Trade and Industry Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon said she was confident that the company is now poised for growth. "Grand Bay is really a success story for Trinidad and Tobago, with state-of-the-art operations and a highly competitive business," she said.
