Metsä Tissue Achieves Gold level in Supplier Sustainability

Metsä Tissue, part of Metsä Group, has achieved the Gold level in EcoVadis Supplier Sustainability Rating for its approach and performance in sustainability. The criteria of the rating includes four themes; the environment, labour practices, sustainable procurement and fair business practices. Metsä Tissue was ranked in the top 3% of suppliers assessed by EcoVadis.
"In Metsä Tissue we are committed to conducting our business in a responsible manner and taking into account the social, environmental and economic impacts of our actions. We do this in co-operation with our suppliers, customers, business partners and consumers", says Kari Muttilainen, SVP strategy development. "We continuously work to improve our energy efficiency and reducing our fossil CO2 emissions. So far, Metsä Group has reduced fossil CO2 emissions by 35% per produced ton since 2009. We strive to minimize the environmental impacts of our operations and to further broaden our work in the field of sustainability with our suppliers, customers and consumers."
EcoVadis operates a platform allowing companies to assess the environmental and social performance of its suppliers on a global basis. The methodology and criteria used are in line with international Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standards including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), UN Global Compact (UN GC), and ISO 26000.
