China’s Hengan International has fired up a new 60,000-tonne/yr tissue PM at its mill in Weifang city, Shandong province. Dubbed PM 21, the Valmet unit churned out its first sheet of paper in late January. It has a net sheet width of 5.6 m and a design speed of 2,000 m/min.
The mill runs four other tissue production lines with a combined capacity of 230,000 tonnes/yr. Back in 2012, Hengan ordered eight 60,000 tonne/yr tissue machines; four from Andritz, and four from Valmet. PM 21 is the seventh to come onstream. The last one, also supplied by Valmet, is expected to start trial runs at the Weifang plant in May.
By then the Hong Kong-listed hygiene products giant will achieve its goal of boosting its total tissue capacity to 1.43 million tonnes/yr.
