Algeria’s Paper Mill Investment (PMI) has started the construction of a new tissue machine, which is expected to launch production in September. The PM was initially expected to begin operating from Q1 this year, but it was eventually delayed due to bureaucratic procedures in Algeria.
The new machine, supplied by Andritz, will produce high-quality facial wipes as well as towel papers and will have a capacity of 35,000 mtpy. According to a press release issued last year by Andritz, the new "PrimeLineCOMPACT tissue machine has a design speed of 2,000 meters per minute and a paper width of 2.85 meters. The order includes a complete Andritz stock preparation for virgin pulp with a capacity of 135 bdmt/day."
Paper Mill Investment (PMI) has expansion plans that include paper mills in several countries of the Middle East and North Africa region.
