China’s Sichuan Anxian Paper recently fired up two new 15,000-metric tpy tissue machines at its mill in Mianyang city, in the southwestern province of Sichuan.
The units, dubbed PM 3 and PM 4, churned out their first sheets of paper in late September and the middle of this month respectively.
Provided by Chinese supplier Baotuo Paper Machinery Engineering, each machine has a trim width of 2.86 m and a design speed of 1,000 m/min.
Two identical tissue PMs are scheduled to come on stream at the site by the end of this year. All of the units will be partly integrated with an on-site 50,000-metric tpy bamboo pulp line.
Founded in 1990s, Anxian Paper used to be a prominent pulp and paper producer in Sichuan. It ordered two 12,000-metric tpy tissue machines from Kawanoe Zoki in 2012, but fell into debt troubles before they could be put into operation.
The company filed for bankruptcy in 2014 and its sole mill in Mianyang was mostly idle during the insolvency procedures.
In early 2017, Sichuan Huanlong Group took over Anxian Paper and decided to make the plant its second tissue and bamboo pulp production base. The two Kawanoe Zoki units were kicked into production in August 2017.
Huanlong Group runs another tissue mill via its subsidiary Sichuan Xilong Biomass Material in Meishan city, Sichuan province.
The Group signed up Baotuo Paper Machinery Engineering to provide six 15,000-metric tpy tissue machines for the Meishan plant. Two were commissioned last year.
