Star Paper Mill Starts up New Tissue Machine at its Mill in Abu Dhabi, UAE

On behalf of its managing director, Majid Rasheed, Star Paper is delighted to announce the successful commissioning and startup of its new tissue machine in ICAD 2, Abu Dhabi. The first jumbo reel of tissue was produced on July 14. Star Paper Mill, a new and modern tissue paper manufacturing mill spread over 27,000 m2, is located in the growing industrial city of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), UAE. Its machine was purchased from the M/S Recard, Italy. It is a DCT crescent former machine with the latest flexi-nip shoe press technology, enabling Star to achieve higher bulk and softness. The machine deckle is 3.6 m having two rewinders with a capability of rewinding up to 4 ply. Production capacity will be about 40,000 mtpy of prime quality virgin tissue paper. SPM is striving to follow the best environmental practices and to source the pulp from responsibly managed forests including FSC certified. It will offer products that are manufactured to the highest standard of quality, together with the flexibility to meet the diverse needs of its customers, locally and internationally. SPM will produce a wide spectrum of hygienic tissue jumbo reels in various grades ranging from 12.5 g/m2 to 38 g/m2 towels. It will produce facial, toilet, napkin and kitchen towel. SPM plans to specialize in value-added products such as low gsm facial tissue, ultra-soft and smooth tissue, lotionized tissue with a satin finish, bonded napkins, multi-color printable white napkin tissue and very high wet strength towels. It will also produce pastel shades tissues.
