Essity Increases Converting Capacity at its Altopascio Site in Italy

Essity has inaugurated a new center for napkin production at its existing converting facility in Altopascio, Italy.
The firm installed 10 new converting lines which will increase the site’s production capacity by 20,000 mtpy to 50,000 mtpy of high-quality tissue products for professional use. Essity’s total investment in the site is Euro 47 million ($51.6 million). The new site will be fully operational by the end of 2020.
According to the firm, white, colored and personalized napkins produced by the new machines will be mostly exported to Europe.
The Altopascio facility is also furnished with solar panels, LED lamps and a heating system designed to be fuelled by a cogeneration plant.
