For 30 years now, Fagus GreCon has supplied customers in Canada, Mexico, and the US with innovative measurement technology, inspection systems and preventive fire protection systems. Fagus GreCon, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fagus-GreCon Greten GmbH & Co. KG in Alfeld, Germany. From establishing the US presence, expansion into new facilities, increase production and servicing of customer systems, and moving its North American headquarters to the east coast, the company continues to grow.
It all began in November 1989 with the opening of the first location in the Pacific Northwest under the name of GreCon Electronics, Inc., parallel to the engineering company, GreCon North America, Inc. In January 1993 this same location in Beaverton, OR, was renamed as a joint subsidiary, GreCon Inc. Under the management of Hermann Staats and later Stephan Rehr-Zimmermann, the newly founded company grew steadily. By the turn of the millennium, the number of employees had risen from the original 8 to 17.
Due to the constant growing number of projects, GreCon needed to expand into a larger production facility. January 2000 the company moved to a new location in the nearby city of Tigard, OR. In their new 10,000 ft2 facility GreCon successfully implemented larger and more customer specific custom-made projects over the next 18 years.
One monumental achievement in measuring technology was the Georgia Pacific company-wide rollout of GreCon UPU systems for all plants in North America. With this measuring system the customer is able to check the production of wood-based panels for defects such as splitters, blisters, and other quality issues.
GreCon’s proven spark detection and extinguishing systems ensures high production availability on a daily basis for customers in a wide variety of industries. This system is a preventive measure against fire and dust explosions while avoiding material damage, production downtime, and personal injury.
The most recent step was the relocation of Fagus GreCon's North American headquarters to the East Coast. The company moved into its new Charlotte, NC, facility January of 2018. Since then, the company has operated under the name Fagus GreCon, Inc. The Tigard location has become a satellite office and continues to serve as sales and service location for customers in the west.
Eric Peterson, the new CEO, and his team are working to provide quality products and services to their customers.
