Everyone involved in tissue making is invited to attend and encouraged to attend TAPPI’s Tissue 201: Operations and Runnability Course coming up in May, which offers a focused curriculum on methods to improve tissue quality and consistency, reduce waste and downtime, diagnose problems quickly and increase reliability. This two-day training event is held each year and brings together a large panel of specialty-area experts who deliver a comprehensive overview of the tissue making process. With a more complete understanding of the process, attendees will be better able to safely achieve and maintain high production levels in mill operations by reducing downtime and off-quality paper.

This two-day intermediate- to advanced-level course is set for May 12-13, 2020 in Neenah, Wisconsin. Topics presented in the Course Schedule planned will enable participants to learn:

  • Causes of tissue runnability and quality issues associated with the wet-end chemistry, stock approach, and headbox set-up
  • Procedures and principles for improving the cleaning and conditioning of felts and wires
  • Causes of tissue runnability problems associated with the pressing and drying
  • Problems with the Yankee dryer steam, coating, and hood systems to increase machine productivity
  • Runnability problems and opportunities for improvement on the dry end of the paper machine

Those who would benefit from the curriculum presented include engineers, machine supervisors, operators, suppliers and other technical professionals who are new to tissue grades.

Registration is active now with early-bird discounts offered through April 12. Groups of three or more from the same location receive with the greatest discounts.

Attend the YDSRC
The Yankee Dryer Safety and Reliability Committee annual spring meeting is taking place after this course on Thursday, May 14. This meeting is free for members and first-time attendees. Consider adding this meeting to your registration.

Additional tissue short courses scheduled later in the year include these two events:

Tissue 202: Converting Operations Course
June 2-4, 2020 | Green Bay, Wisconsin

This training explores the converting processes of rolled products and how the quality and variability of tissue parent jumbo reels and soft rolls impact the runnability of these complex lines.

Tissue 101: Properties and Processes Course
September 26-27, 2020 | Co-located with TissueCon in Atlanta, Georgia

Introductory curriculum designed to help expand understanding attendees’ understanding of tissue properties and manufacturing processes to improve tissue performance and manufacturing efficiency.
