Indian paper merchant Jani Sales has had to delay the start-up of its new tissue and kraft paper mill in Sarigam, Gujarat, until the end of June.
It had been due to come online in March, but the anti-COVID-19 lockdown in India, which stopped most industrial activity that month, slowed the project down.
The lockdown was relaxed for most industrial actors as of April 20, and a spokesperson from the firm said that work on the plant has since been able to progress. “We are targeting production by end of June,” he explained.
The 100-mtpd Lucart machine there will cater to export customers as well as the local market.
It will be able to manufacture machine-glazed kraft and poster paper, as well as tissue. Its initial commercial production will focus on kraft paper.
The PM will be fed with an in-house Voith line, which will be commissioned at the same time.
It will be able to process virgin fiber or fiber from recovered paper as necessary. Back to Tissue360 Newsletter |
