Nippon Paper Industries (NPI) subsidiary Crecia-Kasuga has started up a new 40,000-mtpy tissue machine at NPI’s Fuji mill in Japan.
The unit started up in May, a month ahead of schedule, with plans to service increasing demand from the adjacent Tokyo-region market.
NPI is now only producing tissue at the Fuji site, where it shut down more than 130,000 mtpy of graphic paper capacity over 2019.
Besides the new machine, it also runs a 36,000-mtpy TM there that was installed in 2018.
