China’s Zhejiang Jingxing Paper is planning to add 120,000 mtpy of tissue paper capacity to its existing mill in Pinghu city, Zhejiang province.
The expansion which will consist of two new 60,000-mtpy tissue machines, is estimated to involve a total investment of RMB 686.65 million ($101 million).
A timeline for the project has not been revealed.
The plan was greenlit by the Shenzhen-listed company’s board in mid-September but remains subject to the approval of its shareholders and to positive environmental impact assessments.
Zhejiang Jingxing has long been a major recycled containerboard producer in the eastern part of China.
In 2011, the company diversified into the tissue business by launching converted tissue products under its brand “Pinse” on the Chinese market.
It commissioned three tissue machines with a combined capacity of 68,000 mtpy at the Pinghu mill between 2014 and 2015.
As a latecomer in an oversupplied market, the company made losses in the tissue sector every year until 2019. Back to Tissue360 Newsletter |
