Italian P&B Production Sinks by 6 percent Year on Year in 9M 2020

Italian paper and board (P&B) production fell by 6 percent year on year to 6.3 million tonnes during the first nine months of 2020, according to the latest data from the Italian association of pulp, paper and board producers Assocarta.
Graphic paper production plummeted by 28.5 percent on a year-on-year basis to 1.3 million tonnes during the period.
Packaging paper production improved by 2.6 percent year on year to 3.6 million tonnes during the first nine months of the year. While containerboard production rose by 9.0 percent to 2.0 million tonnes, wrapping paper production slipped by 3.2 percent to 374,352 tonnes and production of other packaging grades fell by 5.1 percent to 1.2 million tonnes.
Tissue paper production improved by 1.2 percent on a year-on-year basis to 2.4 million tonnes during the first nine months of 2020, while other P&B production sank by 5.7 percent to 312,437 tonnes.
Production of tissue paper improved by 4.7 percent on a year-on-year basis to 140,518 tonnes in September, while other P&B production increased by 1.0 percent to 37,201 tonnes. Back to Tissue360 Newsletter |
