According to Fastmarkets RISI, Tunisia’s Azur Papier, part of the Société d’Articles Hygiéniques group, has started production of tissue paper on PM 2 at its mill in Zriba, some 60 km south of Tunis. Production launched in February.
The machine, which was supplied by Italy’s Recard, can produce 33,000 mtpy of cellulose wadding, 40 percent of which will be used by the group’s subsidiaries, while the rest will be exported.
The company invested TND 87 million ($32 million) in the project. “This new investment will increase Azur Papier's production capacity by 150 percent and allows the group to develop its exports and meet the raw material needs of its African subsidiaries in order to support them in their growth strategies,” the firm said in a statement.
