According to Fastmarkets RISI, Essity has completed co-determination negotiations on the closure of PM 7 at its Nokia tissue mill in Finland. The PM will be taken out of operation from the end of the third quarter this year, resulting in 16 redundancies at the mill, the Nokia mill’s site manager Jarmo Sara told Fastmarkets RISI. The restructuring will lead to lower mother reel production volumes going forward, Sara said, adding that the mill will continue to employ around 180 people after the PM’s closure.
Essity announced its intention to close PM 7 in March this year, in order to address overcapacity concerns at the mill.
The firm will continue to operate PM 9 at the site, which has a capacity of 55,000 mtpy. PM 7 has a capacity of 25,000 mtpy. Back to Tissue360 Newsletter |
