According to Fastmarkets RISI, China’s Sun Paper has fired up a new 60,000 metric tpy PM at its pulp and paper complex in Beihai city, Guangxi autonomous region. Dubbed TM 6, the Andritz unit has a trim width of 5.6 m and a design speed of 2,000 m/min. An identical machine, TM 5, came on stream at the same site in October.
Fast Beihai expansion: Besides the two TMs, Sun Paper fired up a 550,000 metric tpy uncoated fine paper (UFP) machine at the Beihai mill in late September and a 1 million metric tpy virgin cartonboard machine in early December.
All of these units are partly integrated with three recent in-house fiber lines: a 200,000 metric tpy alkaline peroxide mechanical pulp (APMP) line, an 800,000 metric tpy bleached hardwood kraft (BHK) pulp line and a 600,000 metric tpy bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) line.
