BASF, Charlotte, N.C., USA, reports that it will increase prices for wet end paper chemicals sold into the North American paper market from 5% to 15%, depending on the specific product. The increases will become effective on February 15, or as contract terms allow. The company notes that the increases are being implemented as a result of increases in raw material and energy costs. BASF established Paper Chemicals as a separate division when it acquired Ciba in April of 2009.
