TAPPI Yankee Dryer Safety & Reliability Committee Addresses Challenges

The TAPPI Yankee Dryer Safety and Reliability Committee is a group of owner/users and service providers who have engaged to reduce drying system delay that causes low productivity and negatively impacts dryer safety and overall business results. The committee's goal is to develop standard practices and visual standards for problems that cause drying system delay and compromise safety across the tissue industry.
The committee met on October 14, 2009, during the TAPPI EPE Conference in Memphis, Tenn., USA. Members of the committee used a lean manufacturing approach to identify the key areas to work on, and select team leaders.

- Steam and Condensate Systems - Pekka Kormano, Deublin Steam Systems
- Dryer Surface Reliability - Sam Archer, Nalco
- Operational Policies & Procedures - Colin Archibald, Kruger Co.
- Inspection Policies & Procedures - James Hickman, JLM Advanced Technical Services
- Inspection Policies & Procedures - Francesco Simoncini, Toscotec
- Maintenance Policies & Procedures - Geoff Tonge, Walmsleys
