SCA Tissue Donates $50,000 to Playground Project in Menasha, Wis., Park

SCA Tissue North America, Philadelphia, Pa., USA, has donated $50,000 toward the development of a playground and equipment as part of the Fritse Park Redevelopment Project in the town of Menasha, Wis. SCA's donation, the largest single cash donation in the $1.2 million redevelopment project, will help create a new Adventure Play area that will feature a family playground with equipment and stations designed to encourage multi-generational recreation and activities. Work on the playground, which will cost $178,000, will begin the last week of May 2010 and will utilize volunteer labor. 

In presenting the donation, Joseph Fahley, SCA Tissue VP and CFO, said that "at SCA, being a successful global business means also supporting the communities in which we live and work." Fahley cited a previous donation of $50,000 for the pool slide at the Neenah-Menasha YMCA and the company's annual environmental education grants to local schools. "We think this is an outstanding effort to update a part of the community that sees more than 120,000 guests per year between the park and the trestle trail. This redevelopment will ensure that the play area is in a safe and accessible area, will meet all current safety and ADA requirements, encourage family interaction and play, and bring together a diverse community of guests and users," Fahley added. "SCA is very proud to be part of this project."

SCA Tissue has nearly 950 employees in the Fox Cities, including nearly 800 between its Menasha mill and Neenah converting facility and 150 at its Service Excellence Center in the town of Menasha. In addition to Wisconsin, SCA Tissue North America has manufacturing facilities in Alabama, Arizona, and New York. The company employs more than 2,000 in the U.S.
