Great Northern Wins Innovation Award for Hand Towel Package

Great Northern Corp., Appleton, Wis., USA, has won the National Paperboard Packaging Competition Innovation Award for its work in the creation of the Kleenex Hand Towel package. Winners of the 67th annual award were announced during the recent Paperboard Packaging Council annual spring meeting.

Great Northern's StrataGraph operation, in Oshkosh, Wis., earned the award for its part in creating a unique dispenser that is designed to sit on either a towel bar or counter, withstand moist bathroom environments, and deliver single-use paper hand towels in a fashionable and environmentally friendly package.

"We worked very closely with Kimberly-Clark to develop a carton that met their objectives as far as form and function," said Don Schroeder, president of Great Northern's StrataGraph operation. "Our process is a perfect fit for this product line and materials were selected to meet design, structural integrity and sustainability goals."
