Metsä Tissue, Finland, reports that its Lambi tissue brand will serve as a sponsor with MŠK Žilina, a Slovak football club, in the Champions League Cup. Founded in 1908 and based in the town of Žilina, Slovakia, MŠK Žilina is the most successful team in the Slovak top division.
During the Champions League Cup, MŠK Žilina will play five matches with sponsorship from the Metsä Tissue Lambi brand. The Lambi logo will appear on the team's jerseys in matches against three teams: Spartak Moscow, Olympique Marseille, and Chelsea. Josef Antosik, the owner of MŠK Žilina, is also a co-owner of Metsä Tissue Corp. The company operates in several European countries and is headquartered in Finland. One of the company's production sites is located in Žilina.
"Football has always been close to my heart and it goes without saying that the success of my club has been a great pleasure to follow," says Antosik. "As a co-owner of Metsä Tissue, I have also seen great efforts made in completely different arenas, for example in the world of brands. The Lambi brand for example has evolved from being a Swedish consumer hygiene brand introduced in 1962 into an international brand, with products available in 16 countries and a sales line of over EUR 120 million per year. For me, it has been a natural choice to support the Lambi brand and the employees behind it by offering important visibility in a very exciting forum," he adds.
The opportunity to support the MŠK Žilina club has been taken with enthusiasm by Metsä Tissue. "For Lambi, this is a great opportunity. On top of that, this is naturally a big thing for our personnel," says Hannu Kottonen, CEO of Metsä Tissue. "We will definitely share the team's fighting spirit," he promises
