Södra Cell Increases Softwood Pulp Price

Södra Cell, Växjö, Sweden, has announced a $30/metric ton increase for its softwood pulp. The new price, which became effective April 1, is $1,010/metric ton.
Södra is the world's third largest supplier of market pulp. The company operates five pulp mills (three in Sweden and two in Norway) with a total capacity of 2.1 million metric tpy, of which just over 100,000 tons is mechanical pulp (CTMP) and the rest bleached kraft pulp. The company makes pulp from softwood and hardwood, including eucalyptus. Softwood pulp makes up 80% of its total production and hardwood pulp the remaining 20%.
