Industrie Cartarie Tronchetti Group (ICT), Lucca, Italy, has started up the new tissue line at its greenfield Montargis mill in the Loiret region of France. Both the machine and converting plant are now operating. ICT invested some EUR 100 million ($142 million) in the new mill, which employs 140-150 people.
The new, 70,000 metric tpy tissue line from Metso, Finland, includes a 5.5 m wide,1,900 m/min Advantage DCT 200 machine with an OptiFlo II TIS multi-layer headbox, a Metso yankee cylinder, an Advantage AirCap hood, an Advantage WetDust dust management system, and an Advantage SoftReel reel. Metso also supplied the stock preparation system and an automation package. The line uses 100% virgin pul and produces facial, toilet, and towel grades.
The company plans to double production at the Montargis mill at a later date. It reportedly already has permits to install a second machine.
