Coldwater Acquires Doctor Blade Supplier R&E Kirwin

Coldwater Group Inc., Atlanta, Ga., USA, has acquired R&E Kirwin Ltd. of Chesterfield, England. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

R&E Kirwin is a major supplier of doctor blades and accessories for the paper industry, with customers throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia. Coldwater’s Swedish subsidiary, Coldwater Jocell AB, was already an exclusive distributor of R&E Kirwin products in Sweden and Norway as a result of its acquisition of Breba Tekniska AB in 2011.

"We are pleased to have R&E Kirwin become part of our company," Coldwater Group President David Withers said. "Doctor blades are a natural fit for our business of mechanical consumables and services to the paper industry, and this transaction builds on the experience we gained from acquiring Breba last year."

The operations of R&E Kirwin moved to Coldwater Jocell’s facility near Karlstad, Sweden, earl;ier this month. More information is available online.
