Södra, Sweden, also raised the price of its softwood pulp in Europe to $820.00 per metric ton, effective November 1. The company attributes the increase to improved market balance.
Södra is one of the world’s top producers of market pulp. Its pulps are divided into five categories: Södra Green--pulp with long, slender fibers for use as reinforcement pulp in magazine paper; Södra Blue—for the production of fine paper; Södra Gold—hardwood pulps for use in fine paper and specialty paper; Södra Black--pulps with short, strong fibers for tissue and specialty products; and Södra Red—CTMP (chemi-thermomechanical pulp) for tissue and paperboard.
