GapCon, Germany, has unveiled its new EconSOFT™ tissue machine. Based on the company’s Crescent Former technology, all key sections of the EconSOFT have been completely redesigned from the ground up.
GapCon notes that in a world of rising energy costs "where each kilowatt is precious," the EconSOFT has been designed from the outset to combine optimum energy efficiency with the flexibility to manufacture a wide range of products from the very compact to the very bulky. "All of this is achievable with just one machine, enabling the producer to meet a wide variety of customer needs in a timely manner while maintaining the lowest possible cost base, an essential consideration in such a cost sensitive industry as tissue production," the company emphasizes.
Highlights of the EconSOFT include:
- Substantial improvement in product formation compared with conventional crescent formers
- High solids content in both the headbox and the former
- Drastic reduction of up to 40% in the power requirements of the approach flow
- Improved press performance delivering an energy saving of 30%, compared with standard drying techniques
- Fiber savings on all tissue grades without compromising physical properties of the paper
- Flexibility in production to deliver a wider range of tissue grades
- Easier control of tissue bulk, density, and elongation during the manufacturing process
- Superior softness in all grades of personal and toilet tissue
- Superior strength in all towel and napkin grades
- Easy operation and maintenance.
