Metsä Tissue, Cooking Paper Business Invests in New Converting Line in Sweden

Metsä Tissue, part of Metsä Group, Finland, reports that it will invest EUR 10 million in a new tissue consumer products converting line at its Mariestad mill in Sweden.The investment will further strengthen Metsä Tissue’s position and competitiveness in the European tissue market. The new, highly-efficient Futura, Italy, production line will increase Mariestad mill’s converting capacity up to 80,000 metric tpy and at the same time improve Metsä Tissue’s delivery reliability.
Metsä Tissue focuses on operating close to its customers. "Listening to consumers and understanding their needs form the basis for our product development. Consumers’ expectations on product quality are increasing all the time. The new converting line represents state-of-the-art tissue converting technology, which means we can produce the softest tissue qualities on the market," said Mark Watkins, SVP, Tissue, Scandinavia.
The new line will be started up in the autumn of 2014. The investment also includes the extension of the warehouse facilities at Mariestad.
Metsä Group’s sales totaled EUR 5.0 billion in 2012, and it employs approximately 11,500 people. The Group operates in some 30 countries. Metsäliitto Cooperative is the parent company of Metsä Group and is owned by approximately 125,000 Finnish forest owners.
