SCA's New Tissue Line in Mexico to Have Advanced Electrical System

SCA's new tissue line at its mill near Mexico City, Mexico, will have an electrical system supplied by ABB, Helsinki, Finland. The electrical system for the new Metso machine includes intelligent control and monitoring systems for power distribution, new-generation intelligent Motor Control Centers, frequency converters, and high efficiency motors, as well as a complete paper machine Sectional drives system. The delivery includes ABB's most recent application knowledge for the power distribution and motor control technique. ABB's Process Industry unit from Vaasa, Finland, is responsible for the delivery, which in addition to the equipment, includes project management, engineering, and site services. The new tissue line will produce 60,000 metric tpy of facial, toilet, and towel tissue grades. Startup is planned for summer and fall of this year.
