Cellu Tissue Holdings, Alpharetta, Ga., USA, has achieved environmental certification from the world's preeminent standards bodies. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC) have all awarded Chain of Custody (CoC) Certification to Cellu Tissue Holdings, after a comprehensive review of its sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution operations.
CoC tracks the entire life cycle of raw materials used in the production of paper based products. CoC certified manufacturers can track materials from seedling to mature tree, including harvesting methods, transportation to the mill, and the entire process of converting the raw materials into pulp and eventually finished paper products.
"Chain of Custody Certification from the three major standards bodies is a significant achievement in the paper industry, and demonstrates the emphasis Cellu Tissue places on responsible forest management, sustainable and renewable resource management, and socially conscious business practices," said Russ Taylor, CEO and president of Cellu Tissue.
Steve Ziessler, COO of Cellu Tissue, added that "awareness of environmental concerns has become top of mind for consumers in the U.S. and around the world. Our customers can proudly demonstrate their commitment to environmentally responsible practices when they use Cellu Tissue as their manufacturer of choice for their trusted tissue brands. Additionally, Cellu Tissue is committed to preserving the environment for future generations through continuous improvements in forest management and production processes."
