Christian Lyons, RPL, has been an APCO Adjunct Instructor since
2010. He began teaching for the APCO Institute by spending three months
in Saudi Arabia teaching Crisis Negotiations and Public Safety Telecommunicator
courses. Since beginning in public safety in 1991, Lyons has served in
many capacities including police officer, firefighter, fire chief,
telecommunicator and communications supervisor. He now serves as the Assistant
Director of the Regional Emergency Dispatch (RED) Center serving a population
of approximately 480,000 and 14 fire departments in the suburbs of
Chicago. Lyons has degrees in fire science, emergency & disaster
management and human resources.
