APCO is seeking comments for the candidate American National Standards (ANS) Crisis Intervention Techniques and Call Handling Procedures for Public Safety Telecommunicators. This standard will identify training requirements for handling calls involving emotionally distressed individuals. The public may review and comment on this candidate standard until February 1 on the APCO website.

The APCO Military Task Force was created to identify and evaluate options for aligning ECC staffing shortages with unemployed military spouses and military veterans. This may provide solutions to ECC staffing problems, while offering support to our military families and those that have served our country. We are calling volunteers who:
- Have current and past military experience.
- Are spouses of current or past military personnel.
- Work for centers that have a military presence within the community(ies) they serve.
The deadline to sign-up is February 5.
