On February 4, the Public Safety Next Generation 9-1-1 Coalition, which includes APCO and America’s major fire service, EMS, and law enforcement associations, met to discuss next steps for legislation that would fund a nationwide transition to Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1). The Coalition has been advocating for a federal grant program in the amount of $15 billion to ensure that NG9-1-1 is deployed in a secure, interoperable, non-proprietary, and cost-efficient manner across the country. During the meeting, the Coalition members spoke with leaders from Congress and the Administration about how to advance the legislation in 2022.
