APCO recently awarded close to $80,000 in scholarship awards to APCO members. The awards were administered through the APCO Commercial Advisory Council (CAC)/Silent Key Scholarship Program, making scholarship funds available to public safety communications professionals to participate in APCO Institute training.

APCO recognizes that emergency communications centers are struggling with staffing and retention and is offering this webinar to address some of these issues. In this webinar, APCO staff and ECC personnel will describe tools for measuring performance and staffing needs. Analyzing your ECC’s performance and staffing needs is helpful for requesting funding for additional positions, justifying hiring and retention bonuses, and reporting positive performance to leadership and the public.

Cybersecurity Fundamentals for the ECC is offered as a pre-conference course at APCO 2022 on Saturday, August 6, in Anaheim, California. All emergency communications professionals are welcome to register. Topics addressed include why emergency communications centers (ECC) are a target, how to protect your ECC, signs of an ongoing cyberattack, mitigation techniques and more. Tuition is $199 for APCO members and $239 for non-members. Worth 8 CDEs.
