September 7, the United States Senate confirmed Anna Gomez to serve as a Commissioner at the Federal Communications Commission. Ms. Gomez has a wealth of experience related to public safety communications, including playing a key role in the formation and implementation of a $115 million grant program to advance 9-1-1 service, the nationwide public safety broadband network, and a $300 million research and development program for public safety communications. APCO offered congratulatory remarks in a press release.

On June 26, in her first year at Guilford Metro 911, Corina Hunt exhibited extraordinary courage, composure and leadership during a critical emergency call. Her actions played a pivotal role in potentially saving a life.
During this incident, Hunt fielded a call from an 11-year-old child who reported their unconscious 43-year-old mother. The caller was understandably distraught, and the situation escalated when it was revealed that the patient was not breathing. With an 8-year-old sibling also present and both children in a state of panic, Corina demonstrated exceptional professionalism. Read more

During the two-course training series, cybersecurity experts and industry professionals address current issues and solutions for cybersecurity threats to public safety agencies.
