On December 26, 2023, public safety telecommunicator Lesly Hernandez of the Metro Nashville Department of Emergency Communications answered a 9-1-1 call for an 88-year-old female who was suffering from chest pain and shortness of breath. As the call began it seemed to be a standard ambulance request. While processing the call, Lesly was notified by the caller that the patient had stopped breathing. For quick thinking on her feet and dedication to exceptional patient care, Hernandez is awarded the Teammates in Action Award for February 2024. Read more

The following agencies have received APCO Agency Training Program Certification, a Project 33® Initiative:
Public safety agencies use the APCO International Agency Training Program Certification as a formal mechanism to ensure their training programs meet APCO American National Standards (ANS). Initial and continuing training for public safety telecommunicators is important as they provide essential services to the public in an expanding and rapidly changing environment.

Communications Training Officer Celeste Thompson of the Murfreesboro (Tennessee) Communications Center was credited with helping to save the life of a one-year-old who had stopped breathing.
