This standard focuses on the recommendation for 9-1-1 calls that traditionally resulted in the dispatch of law, medical or fire personnel being supplemented or replaced by an alternative responder. The Member Chapter Services Committee is pleased to announce the next recipients of the Teammates in Action award. On November 7, 2023, Williamson County Department of Emergency Services received a call for a fire in a wood line. The fires spread quickly to 150 acres. Public safety telecommunicators Hake and Cummings worked together to dispatch additional needed units, document responses and coordinate communication with the scene. Read more

Public safety agencies use the APCO International Agency Training Program Certification as a formal mechanism to ensure their training programs meet APCO American National Standards (ANS). Initial and continuing training for public safety telecommunicators is important as they provide essential services to the public in an expanding and rapidly changing environment.
