Today begins with the Distinguished Achievers Breakfast featuring keynote speaker Doris Kearns Goodwin who will share leadership lessons from the White House. FirstNet CEO Mike Poth will also provide an update on FirstNet’s progress. Doris Kearns Goodwin will be in the APCO Pavilion immediately following the session for a photo opp with attendees.

Don’t miss out on the APCO Block Party tonight. There is no better way to wind down the week at APCO 2016 than by eating great food, hearing good music and connecting with old and new friends. Transportation will be provided to and from all official conference hotels starting at 6:45 p.m.

On October 16, 2014, Jeremy Morris, dispatcher at the McHenry County (IL) Sheriff’s Office, was drinking Diet Coke with dispatcher Kelly Reid, his legs kicked up on the radio console during a relatively slow midnight shift. At 1:16 a.m., the center received a relatively common call for a well-being check. By 1:41 a.m., everything changed when dispatchers received calls that shots were fired and officers down.
