End your conference with a laugh! Tonight is the Connect & Celebrate Dinner that starts with a reception and a performance by Michael Andrew followed by dinner and a performance by Gary Mule Deer. Recognition will be given during the dinner, including Life Member Awards, Presidential Awards and the swearing-in of the APCO International Executive Committee & Board of Directors.

Tuesday began with a morning of celebration at the APCO International Conference in Orlando, as APCO recognized the achievements of its association members and partners during the "Distinguished Achievers Breakfast." The event drew more than 900 conference attendees and featured comments by FirstNet CEO Michael Poth and a keynote address by Pulitzer Prize-winning presidential historian, Doris Kearns Goodwin.

During the FirstNet Town Hall, CEO Michael Poth, President TJ Kennedy, and Consultation Director Dave Buchanan shared an update on progress toward deploying the nationwide public safety broadband network. According to Mr. Kennedy, FirstNet is now moving from planning into the operational phase, while ensuring continued consultation with public safety.

Yesterday, APCO hosted a session focused on Cybersecurity – Securing Public Safety Networks from the PSAP Perspective. The first half of the session focused on defining the cybersecurity threat, detailing the types of potential attacks, and providing examples of some actual attacks that have targeted public safety communications. The second half of the session was dedicated to providing some tools, resources and options to PSAP and public safety attendees.
