Upcoming Deadline Reminder—Tier 2 Engines Owned by Small Fleets
This is a reminder of an upcoming deadline for Tier 2 engines registered in the Statewide Portable Equipment Registration Program (PERP) and owned by small fleets. Small fleets have a total cumulative horsepower of 750 brake horsepower (bhp) or less for all portable engines under common ownership and control of the fleet.
The last postmark date PERP will accept low-use, or emergency-use, modification requests for registrations with Tier 2 engines built prior to January 1, 2009, rated at 50 bhp to 750 bhp, is July 1, 2022.
The last postmark date PERP will accept change of ownership applications for registrations with Tier 2 engines built prior to January 1, 2009, rated at 50 bhp to 750 bhp, is also July 1, 2022. This deadline applies to large fleets as well.
If adding a properly functioning level-3 Verified Diesel Emission Control Strategy (VDECS), all modification requests must be completed and postmarked prior to the December 31, 2022 phase-out date.
Any applications that are postmarked after these deadlines will be denied.
Please note that Tier 2 engines following the phase-out option and built prior to January 1, 2009 rated at 50 bhp to 750 bhp, that are not converted to emergency or low use, nor equipped with a VDECS will no longer be able to operate under a PERP registration after December 31, 2022.
In addition, all fleets with active Tier 2 registrations in PERP have been sent brown color placards along with updated registration documents, including stickers, reflecting the December 31, 2022 phase-out date as part of a Tier 2 mass mailer. Please replace your green placards and registration documents with the updated registration packages sent to you.
