Peer Executive Groups (PEG) recently released the rankings for the Top Gun Award winners at the Annual Meeting of the Minds conference in Scottsdale, AZ. This designation recognizes the rental store operators who receive the PEG Pinnacle Award for Financial Excellence. This award is given to the top 25% of stores, based on two ranked financial indicators that are calculated from financial statements submitted by rental store operators to Peer Executive Groups. This is the second year that PEG has named the rental companies that comprise the Top 25% for General Tool/Construction and the first year for the Party/Event segment. Peer Executive Groups currently administers peer groups in a variety of industries. In the rental industry, over 170 companies participate in 19 peer groups. Several CRA members attended the Manufacturers and Tent Renters Association (MATRA) show November 4 through November 7, 2019, in Raleigh, North Carolina. State-of-the-art tents and structures were installed by numerous vendors and their friends. Installation was done safely and securely, with a demonstration of all the modern equipment and tools to use in practical application. Attendees either participated hands-on or watched as installations of amazing looking tents and structures were completed. The Raleigh hospitality and weather treated all those in attendance very well, with smiling faces, sunshine and mild weather. Seminars, a tour of the tents, MATRA games, and tent exhibit hours all added to the numerous networking opportunities.

Death from an accidental opioid overdose has become one of the top five causes of death in recent years. The United States is experiencing an epidemic of opioid addiction. The National Safety Council released a report that a person born in 2017 has a greater chance of dying from an accidental opioid overdose than from a car crash. Accidental opioid overdose is now one of the top five causes of death behind heart disease, cancer, respiratory disease and suicide. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the total “economic burden” of prescription opioid misuse in this country is $78.5 billion a year, which includes the costs of health care, lost productivity, treatment, and use of the criminal justice system.

CRA hosted their 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Glen Eagle Golf Course in Corona, CA. All proceeds will benefit the Rental Services Industry Foundation (RSIF). In the midst of all the area fires, the air was clear and weather was perfect for our golfers, guests and volunteers. Each year, CRA hosts a fund-raising golf tournament for the benefit of its foundation, RSIF (Rental Services Industry Foundation), whose purposes are to provide college scholarships to students interested in the rental industry, to help support members in need of disaster relief, and to provide rental-related educational projects. RSIF is a non-profit organization. This year's tournament, the fifth annual, was held November 1 at the Eagle Glen Golf Course located in Corona, California.
