The Phil Maxwell Memorial Manly Man Fishing Tournament has been rescheduled to Father’s Day Weekend! Join us on the Kern River for some fishing and camaraderie while raising funds for RSIF! The tournament runs from Spillway to Johnsondale Bridge on June 16–18, 2023. A cocktail party will be held at The Kern Lodge on June 17 from 6-7 pm.
Winning Fish: The winning fish will be announced at 10 am on Sunday.It will be the biggest fish by weight determined by the judges: John Frantz, Ron Holbert and Paul Peterson.

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of long-time PDQ Rentals team member and leader, Eddie Pittman.
Ed started with PDQ in 1978. Beginning as a yardie in Customer Service, Ed’s ability and knowledge quickly earned him promotions to Assistant Rental Manager and then to Manager. Because of his interest and intuition in computers, he migrated to become our IT person and Purchasing/Inventory Manager. Incredibly dependable, Ed volunteered to work evenings, nights and weekends to perform inventories, to monitor and install upgrades to our computer system, and to respond to alarms.
Ed was born in 1956. He and his wife Melodie were married for more than 40 years and raised four children, Candice, Brynn, Lindsey and Zack. Ed was a dedicated family man and a dog lover. When a friend needed help, Ed was first to pitch in.
We have lost one of the good guys but he will always be remembered.

Employers are responsible for providing workplaces that are safe from excessive heat. Yet every year, thousands of workers become sick from exposure to heat, and some even die. Heat illnesses and deaths are preventable. The risk of heat-related illnesses and deaths increases during warm summer months; humidity increases the risk. Heat stroke is the most serious heat-related illness. It occurs when the body becomes unable to control its temperature: body temperature rises rapidly, the sweating mechanism fails, and the body is unable to cool down. Body temperature may rise to 106°F or higher within 10 to 15 minutes. Heat stroke can cause death or permanent disability if emergency treatment is not provided.

Kelly Bye has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Virginia Abrasives Corp. and subsidiary Johnson Abrasives, effective April 17. Mr. Bye brings extensive manufacturing experience and joins the team after nearly four years with Benjamin Moore & Company, and nearly 26 years with Rust-Oleum Corporation, both in the Chicago area. He has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Rockford University. His combined experience in finance, sales management and manufacturing are ideally suited to the manufacturing company, which is based in Petersburg, Virginia.
