In recent years, states have increased their use of polymer-modified asphalts (PMA) to improve their pavement networks. This has increased the costs of mixtures, but there has been no quantification of the return on investment (ROI) for PMA. This webinar will present the findings of “Impacts of Polymer-Modified Asphalts (PMA) on Pavement Performance and Cost,” a study funded by the FHWA and NAPA under a cooperative agreement. It will detail how highway agencies are currently specifying PMA in dense-graded mixtures, the tools being used to determine ROI, and the ways PMA is affecting pavement performance, along with recommendations as to how states can better predict ROI and document performance improvements.
